Seven 2022 Book To Screen Adaptations I'm Excited About

I love a book to movie or TV adaptation. I used to keep up with upcoming adaptations and read the book in preparation for the adaptations release but I have gotten out of that habit in recent years. I figured I would try to get back to that a little this year and decided to look into the upcoming adaptations. I found a few that I am excited about that I thought I would share.

1. The Hating Game - This has already released elsewhere but is coming to the UK at some point in 2022. This is the movie adaptation of Sally Thorne's novel, which I read last year and didn't love as much as everyone else seems to. I love Lucy Hale, though, so I am excited for the movie.

2. Bridgerton Season 2 - The second book in the Bridgertons series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, is my favourite of the series so far and is the book the second season of the show is based on. I started reading the series after falling in love with the first season of the show so I can't wait for the second season.

3. Luckiest Girl Alive - This is a movie adaptation of a book I read years ago. The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll follows a seemingly perfect woman with a traumatic past, the secrets of which are tearing her apart. I wasn't a fan of the book but I am interested to see how they take this story to the screen.

4. Daisy Jones And The Six - One of the most popular books of the past few years, Daisy Jones And The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, is being adapted into a TV series. I have not yet read this book and didn't really have much interest in it until Sam Claflin was announced as part of the cast of the adaptation. Now I will definitely be picking it up and watching the show when it is released.

5. Anatomy Of A Scandal - This is a thriller that I have not read but the premise sounds interesting. The TV series adaptation is pitched as for fans of Scandal, a show I really loved, so that has me hooked already. I believe it is to do with a politician accused of committing a crime and follows the court case that ensues.

6. She Said - This is an adaptation of a non-fiction novel that is on my TBR. The book is written by two journalists who broke the news of the Harvey Weinstein's sexual harassment. I believe the adaptation is a dramatisation of the book.

7. After Ever Happy - The final instalment in the After series is coming and I am both excited and very sad about it. I have never read the books but the movies are my absolute guilty pleasure and I have watched them far more than is considered normal. I am excited to see this story reach it's conclusion but also don't want it to end.

Those are seven book to movie or TV adaptations due to be released in 2022 that I am excited for. I'm sure there will be some I have missed as I can never keep up with movie and TV news.

What upcoming book to screen adaptation are you most excited for?

The Best Things I've Watched In The Second Half Of 2020

Back in May I did I post talking about some of the best TV shows and movies I had watched from the beginning of 2020 until then. I had planned to do similar posts throughout the year but it just never happened. So I decided it was time to talk about some of the things I have been watching since then. I go through phases of watching a lot of TV and movies and then losing interest for a while but 2020 has been the year of having nothing to do but watch all of the things. I thought I would go by month and share some of my favourite things I have watched. Unfortunately, I didn't bother to make any kind of note of anything I watched in June and I definitely don't remember that far back, so we're starting with July.

July

Athlete A - This is a documentary all about the sexual assault of young female gymnasts. I love gymnastics and follow the sport, though mostly UK gymnastics, so when the news of this all came to light it was a lot for me to take in. This documentary is incredibly hard to watch but very well made. It highlights the issues of the culture within gymnastics as well as discussing the sexual assault cases and how it was able to go on for so long. I would highly recommend!

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga - Now for something completely different! Let me get this straight, this is not a good movie. It's one of those movies that is so bad it makes it enjoyable to watch. It follows an Icelandic duo who end up competing in the Eurovision Song Contest. It's just so much fun and I ended up watching it twice in like a week.

The Hate U Give - I read the book and watched the movie straight after, both of which I loved. I thought the movie was a really good adaptation of the book and the cast was pretty great. This follows a girl who witnesses her best friend shot and killed my a police officer and has to choose between keeping out of the spotlight or fighting for justice.

August

The Imagineering Story - As a massive Disney fan, this was everything I ever wanted. This series follows the development of the Disney parks across the world and the evolution of the different attractions. I just loved learning all about the creation of the parks and seeing all of the work that goes into the development of attractions.

Hamilton - I am also a huge musical theatre lover so of course watched Hamilton when it came to Disney+. I had never seen Hamilton and only knew some of the music but knew from all the rave reviews that it is widely loved. Thankfully, it didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed it, particularly because the cast were incredible.

September

Becoming - This is a documentary following Michelle Obama on her book tour. I read the book last year and loved it, and also really loved this documentary. I just love Michelle Obama as a person and her personality really shone through in this. Her passion for everything she does is just so inspiring.

The Vampire Diaries Season 7&8 - I finally finished The Vampire Diaries! I have been watching this show for like ten years and I don't know why it took me so long. I have always loved it but just kept getting distracted by other things and forgetting to come back to it. I obviously can't say much about the final seasons but I was so completely hooked. I watched them within two weeks, while working full time, and every episode just destroyed me.

Into The Unknown: Making Frozen 2 - I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. This is a documentary series that follows the complete making of Frozen 2. I found it so interesting to learn just how much goes into making a movie like this and how many people work on it. I learnt so much and spent the entire time wishing I was in any way creative so I can do what these people do.

October

UnReal Season 2, 3&4 - This is another of those so bad it's good kind of things. I watched the first season a while ago and enjoyed it but the rest of the seasons go gradually downhill. This is just such a strange show. It follows the crew of a Bachelor type dating show and it is full of drama. I did enjoy it, I had fun watching it, but it did get worse as the seasons went on.

November

Dash & Lily - This might be one of my favourite things I have watched all year. I absolutely adored this show. I wasn't a huge fun of the books, they were just average for me, but this adaptation was better than I could have imagined. It follows Lily who puts a notebook of dares on a shelf in The Strand and Dash who picks it up, and takes place in New York City over Christmas. I wanted to start it again as soon as I finished it.

Holidate - This is a Holiday rom-com following two strangers who agree to be each other's Holidate, a plus one on any holiday throughout the year. I'm not a fan of Emma Roberts so wasn't sure how I would feel about this movie, but Luke Bracey made up for it. This was actually really sweet and a lot of fun. It doesn't take much for me to enjoy a Christmas movie but I really enjoyed this one.

Noelle - I was so sad when I couldn't watch this last year because Disney+ had not launched in the UK yet but I finally got to watch it this year. This follows Santa's sister who has to travel to Arizona after he doesn't return from the short break she suggests he takes. I just love any Christmas movie that involves Santa, the North Pole or any of Santa's family members. I also love Anna Kenrick so this was perfect for me. It was a lot of fun and a really sweet story, definitely one that the whole family can enjoy.

Those are the best TV shows and movies I have been watching over the past 5 months. I have watched a lot more but a lot of it has been pretty average and not really worth talking about, which is a bit disappointing. I'm sure I will watch some more great things before the end of the year.

Do you have any good TV show or movie recommendations similar to the things I have mentioned?

Six Books I Want Adaptations Of

Book to movie adaptations have been huge for years now, but it seems Netflix have made them super popular again. Everyone is loving their adaptations recently and I am constantly seeing lists of books people think Netflix should adapt next. I love a book to movie adaptation and often find myself wishing for some of my favourite books, and even some I didn't particularly love, to be adapted. I have compiled a list of 6 (there's more than 6, I cheated) books I think would make great movies or TV shows.

1. The DIMILY series by Estelle Maskame

I really love this series and I definitely think it should be next series Netflix picks up to adapt. This series follows Eden who goes to live with her father and his new family in California for the Summer and ends up falling for her step-brother. I think this would be such a fun movie series.

2. Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour

This is a story about a young set designer trying to break into the industry, who finds a letter from a famous actor that reveals some secrets. Can you just imagine how beautiful a movie where set design is such a prominent feature would be? This also feature the most adorable f/f relationship that I just need to enjoy in movie format.

3. Anna and the French Kiss series by Stephanie Perkins

I've been waiting for this one for years! This is another one of my favourite series and from the very first time I read these books I thought they would make amazing movies. All of the stunning locations featured in this series would make for beautiful films and I would love to see some of my favourite book couples brought to life.

4. All of Morgan Matson's books

Everyone one of Morgan Matson's books would make amazing movies. They are all full of fun and really heart-warming moments. The small town beach setting would be perfect for a movie. The fact that they're all set in the same town and have characters from other books making cameos would make the movies so much fun. I really need this to happen because I'm now getting excited about it.

5. You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson

This is the most recent book that I read that made me think 'I would love to watch this is a movie'. Remember when Prom movies were a big thing? We need to bring that back with this one! This follows a girl who decides to run for Prom Queen in her Prom obsessed town in order to try and win a college scholarship, but feels she is too poor, too black and too awkward to ever win. It could be such a great movie!

6. The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman

I will never understand why this series didn't get adapted back in the day when every other dystopian series was being made into a movie. This series is about a society in which abortion is illegal and instead parents can choose to Unwind their child after the ago of thirteen, meaning all of their body parts are harvested for transplant. This could make a creepy as hell movie series and I would definitely watch it.

Those are just some of the books I would love to see adapted for movie or TV. There are so many books I think would make great adaptations, and so many books that have recently been or are about to be adapted. Hopefully all of these new adaptations are encouraging non-readers to check out the books and encourage a whole new group of readers, just like Twilight and The Hunger Games did for me.

What books do you think would make great movies or TV shows?

Top Of My To Watch List

Over the past few of years, I have quite often shared the movies and TV shows I have been watching. The list of movies and TV shows I want to watch is about as extensive as the list of books I want to read, it is ever growing and never shrinking. I thought as a bit of motivation to actually watch new things, rather than constantly re-watching One Tree Hill on repeat, I would share five movies and five shows I really want to get to soon.

1. Hamilton
I'm a massive musical theatre fan so I was super excited when it was announced Hamilton was coming to Disney+. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to watch it yet but it is definitely first on the list on my next day off.

2. Wreck It Ralph
I'm making my way through some of the Disney films I haven't gotten around to yet and this is one I have heard so many great things about. I actually don't know what it's about but everyone seems to love it.

3. The Kissing Booth 2
I watched the first film when I randomly came across it on Netflix and enjoyed it more than I was expecting. The second was released on Netflix recently and I definitely want to watch it soon.

4. Mary Poppins Returns
Despite this being released a couple of years ago now, I still haven't watched it yet. Mary Poppins was one of my favourite movies as a child so I'm sure I'll love this. I've heard great things about the songs as well.

5. Becoming
I read Michelle Obama's autobiography, Becoming, last year and loved it. She is such an inspirational woman and I really enjoyed learning more about her story. The movie is in part based on the book, but also just shares more about Michelle Obama and her life.

1. Manifest
I watched the first season of Manifest in like 3 days, I was totally obsessed. I waited ages for the second season to be available in the UK and then still haven't gotten around to it. I definitely need to start it soon.

2. UnReal
This is another one I watched the first season of a while ago and really enjoyed, but have yet to continue. I flew through the first season but I'm not sure why I never kept going.

3. This Is Us
I have heard so many amazing things about this show. I've been recommended it by a lot of friends but just haven't started it yet. Hopefully I can start it soon and see what all the hype is about.

4. Workin' Moms
I've watched the first 2 seasons of this show but found it started to go downhill a bit by season 3. I decided to take a break since I wasn't enjoying it as much as I had been but I would still like to continue with it. It's probably been long enough now that I can give it another go.

5. The Vampire Diaries
I have been watching this show for years but still haven't finished it. I have made it half way through season 6 a few times but never any further. I don't know why as I enjoy it whenever I watch it. I really want to just sit down and finish it in the near future.

Those are the 5 movies and 5 TV shows at the top of my To Watch list. I have so many things I want to watch that I'm not sure if I'll get to all of these soon, but I really do want to. I love getting immersed in a good TV show or spending a couple of hours lost in a great movie and I'm sure I will love all of the things on this list.

What movies and shows are you desperate to watch soon?

Five Book To Movie Adaptations I Need To Watch

I'm really not great for keeping up with book to movie adaptations. In fact, most of the time I don't even know about an adaptation until it pops up on my Netflix recommendations. There are a few recent, and not so recent, adaptations on my radar at the moment so I thought I would share them with you. These are five adaptations of books I have previously read. There are so many I could list for books I still haven't gotten around to yet, as I am not great at reading books before their adaptations are released.

I would love to know your thoughts on these book to movie adaptations, so please do let me know if they are worth the watch.

1. All The Bright Places
I read All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven last year and thought it was average. This seems to be a very polarising book, but it was a solid 3 star read for me. It was recently adapted by Netflix and released earlier this year. I initially wasn't sure if I wanted to watch the movie, but I keep seeing it in my Netflix recommendations and now I'm intrigued. I've loved Elle Fanning, who plays Violet, since Daddy Day Care, so that is a pretty big reason for me wanting to give it a go.

2. City Of Bones
This definitely isn't a recent release but it is one I still haven't seen. I have read the first 3 books in the Mortal Instruments series, and really hope to finish the series this year, but have yet to watch any adaptations of the books. I haven't heard the best things about the movie adaptation, but I'm still desperate to watch it.

3. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Another older adaptation that I have yet to watch. I read the book back in 2016 and it was another 3 star read for me. Everyone seems to love this book, and the movie adaptation, but I just didn't get the hype. I'm hoping to love the movie more, but I am really unsure about watching it in case I actually like it less than the book. Both book and movie are so well-loved, I feel like I would be letting everyone down by not loving them too.

4. The Girl On The Train
This is another older adaptation of a book I read in 2016 but never got around to watching the movie. I enjoyed this book but didn't love it as much as everyone else seemed to. However, friends that have seen the movie have raved about it. I am really interested in watching this movie now as I remember very little about the plot of the book so might enjoy it more than I would have had I watched it earlier.

5. Stargirl
Lastly, we have a recent adaptation of a book I read and loved as a young teen. I remember reading this multiple times in school, I think it was the book I borrowed from the school library the most, and just falling in love with the story. As soon as I found out it was being adapted for Disney+, I was desperate to watch it. I might have to reread the book first, but I definitely need to give this a watch soon.

Those are five book to movie adaptations that I have not yet seen but want to watch soon. Are any of these adaptations favourites of yours? What do you recommend starting with? Are there any I should give a miss?

Best Of What I've Been Watching Recently

I had originally being trying to make what I've been watching recently into a monthly thing but I have gotten to behind on it, and honestly those posts weren't all that interesting, so I thought I would do something a bit different. I haven't shared anything that I have watched so far this year, which is quite a lot given the circumstances, so I thought I would share some of my favourite movies and TV shows I have watched over the past few months.

Frozen 2 - Who didn't love Frozen 2? I enjoyed the first movie but, in my opinion, the second was even better. The soundtrack is amazing, I love the music from this film so much, and the film itself is just as good. I loved the story, they did a really great job of making the sequel just as engaging as the first. It was hilarious and heartwarming all at the same time and something all ages can enjoy.

Cars (1, 2 &3) - Can you tell I got Disney+? I have always loved the first Cars movie so it was one of the first things I watched when Disney+ released in the UK, and I enjoyed it so much that I watched both sequels straight after. The first is just everything that is great about Disney/Pixar movies, it has a beautifully sweet story but is full of fun and laughs for all ages. The second wasn't that great, I will admit, but still fun and I'm sure kids enjoy it. The third one was much better and almost up to the standard of the first. Basically, I'm a big kid and I love these movies.

Miss Americana - I adore Taylor Swift so of course I watched her Netflix documentary as soon as it was available and absolutely loved it. I cried so many times watching it and hearing her talk about some of the struggles she has gone through over the years. She is such an incredible, strong woman and this documentary showcased that brilliantly.

The Good Place Season 4 - I am so sad that this show is over! I watched the whole final season in 2 days and then cried for a solid day after I finished. This season was the perfect ending to a really great, very cleverly written and thought out show and I don't think anything could have been in improved. The characters are some of my favourites ever, and the actors who play them do such an amazing job bringing them to life. I really loved this and can't wait to rewatch the whole thing soon.

Cheer - I started watching this completely on a whim and instantly became obsessed. This is a documentary series following a college cheer team, something I never knew I would even be interested in, let alone get so completely invested in that I couldn't stop watching. This drew me in straight away and I became to invested in this team and the individual cheerleaders, I was completely obsessed. In fact, as soon as I finished it I just wanted to start it all over again.

Station 19 Season 1&2 - As a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy, I have no idea why it took me so long to get around to watching the spin-off series. When this series was introduced in Grey's, I wasn't that interested. However, I decided to give it a go and as soon as I got to know the characters I was hooked. I ended up flying through the first 2 season and completely falling in love with these characters. The storylines haven't been completely keeping my interest, but the really great characters have been making up for that. I definitely don't love it as much as I love Grey's Anatomy, but it is still a solid show.

I've been watching a lot recently but it would appear I haven't been watching a lot of great stuff, as this list was harder than I expected to compile. I am in the middle of a lot of really great shows just now so hopefully I'll have a lot more favourites to share if I continue to do posts like these. I'm always open to TV and movie recommendations, so if you have any you think I would enjoy please share them with me.

What was the best thing you have watched recently?

Sophie :)

What I've Been Watching Recently Part 2

Before Christmas I shared all of the Netflix TV shows and movies I had been watching over the few months I had been neglecting this blog. I said a part 2 was coming, in which I would talk about what I had been watching from other platforms and, despite being much later than I had anticipated, here it is. So this is everything, or everything I can remember, that I watched between April and November 2019 on everything other than Netflix.

Parks & Recreation Season 1 - This was a really random pick for me but I had heard so many good things about it over the years that I decided to check it out. It's a comedy following employees in the Parks & Recreation department in a small town. I thought it was really easy watching that I didn't have to concentrate on, which I always like, but the first season was pretty short so it was hard to form much of an opinion.

Chasing Happiness - This is the Jonas Brothers documentary which, as someone who loves the Jonas Brothers, I really enjoyed. It was so well done and I found it really interesting to get an insight into how things were behind the scenes and some of the things they had to put up with or were struggling with back in the day. Some parts were hard to watch and I did get a bit emotional, but I thought it was great.

UnReal Season 1 - This was another random pick but one that I very quickly became completely obsessed with. This is a drama following the behind the scenes of a fictional Bachelor-type reality show. I was hooked from the very first episode and was living for all the drama and mayhem that went on. I also really love Shiri Appleby, who plays the main character in the show, so that definitely made me love it more.

The Sun Is Also A Star - I really wasn't a fan of this book so I don't know why I thought I would feel differently about the movie. It is about two teenagers who meet the day before one of them is being deported and they spend her last day together. Everything I disliked about the book - the boring characters, the instalove - were still a part of the film. However, the things I enjoyed about the book, such as the formatting and different POV's, were obviously not. This one wasn't for me.

Toy Story 4 - I was so sceptical going into this as I felt that the third movie left things where they needed to be, I didn't want another movie to ruin things. Luckily, I did end up really enjoying it. I thought the whole film was just a sweet as I have come to expect from these movies, but also action-packed enough to keep you interested. They really are great movies for both children and adults, and there were a lot of things I think adults in particular would appreciate in this movie. However, the ending made me angry and now I'm bitter.

Yesterday - As someone who has never had any interest in The Beatles in any way, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this film. However, after seeing the trailer I thought it sounded so interesting that I was desperate to give it a go. It follows a struggling singer/songwriter who wakes up after an accident to discover that no-one else has ever heard of The Beatles or any of their songs. I ended up really enjoying it. I thought the story was great, it was hilarious at parts but also had some great touching moments, and the cast were all incredible. I would highly recommend this film, even if your not a fan of The Beatles.

Chicago Fire Season 7 - This was one of my favourite shows for a while but I'm starting to feel like it's going downhill a bit. Season 7 brought out the whole 'someone is against our firehouse' storyline again and I'm starting to get bored of the same story being changed slightly and then repeated again. I love these characters and their relationships but they need better storylines.

Chicago Med Seasons 3 & 4 - This isn't my favourite medical series but I still like watching it. Both of these seasons were fine but nothing all that stand out, in fact I can't really remember then very well. I do remember in Season 4 they started borrowing Chicago Fire's favourite 'someone is against us' story line, which I am hoping won't be a common feature. This is just an average so for me, but I do like the crossover episodes so I keep watching it.

911 Seasons 1 & 2 - This show is anything but average. I watch a lot of emergency services/medical shows so it takes a lot to impress me, but this had me hooked straight away. This show has some of the craziest story lines and some of the situations will blow your mind. I find it so much fun and so enthralling, I couldn't stop watching. I also really like all of the characters and loved finding out all about their backstories. This is a really great show.

Manifest Season 1 - This is easily my favourite show on this entire list. As soon as I saw the trailer that seemed to go viral, I knew I wanted to watch this show. It finally came to the UK in the Summer of 2019 and I was hooked. It is about a plane full of people who reappear five years after the disappearance of the their flight. I absolutely devoured this season as quickly as I possibly could and loved it so much. It's not something I would usually gravitate towards and unlike anything I have watched before but I thought the story was amazing, it has so many twists and turns that I could never guess where things were going and the cast are amazing. I can't wait for the second season to come to the UK.

That was part 2 of basically all of the things I watched in 2019. What shows or movies should I watch next?

Sophie :)

What I've Been Watching: Christmas Edition

As I have mentioned already, I like Christmas quite a lot. I have my favourite Christmas movies that I watch every year, usually multiple times, but I do try out some new ones each year. I thought it might be fun to share the Christmas movies, and TV show, I have watched so far this holiday season.

Let It Snow - This is the Netflix adaptation of the novel by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. I read the book last year and enjoyed it, so I was super excited that this was being adapted. This follows a group of teenagers in a small town during a Christmas Eve snowstorm. I actually ended up being a little disappointed by this film. It wasn't a bad film, but it almost felt like nothing really happened. It had its cute moments and a few festive bits, but probably not one I'm likely to watch again.

A Christmas Switch - This is basically a Christmas version of Freaky Friday. Two completely different women end up in the others body and have to live their life during the holiday season. If I'm being honest, this wasn't that great. It's obviously a concept that has been done many times before, but this wasn't done very well. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Merry Happy Whatever - Unlike anything I have seen before, this was a Netflix Christmas show. The story itself is not unusual, a girl brings her boyfriend home to meet the family and it doesn't go quite as smoothly as everyone hoped. I wasn't loving it after the first episode but decided to keep going and I'm really glad I did. I ended up really enjoying it and got pretty invested in the story. I would definitely recommend giving this a watch.

Christmas In The Heartland - This is another switching movie! In this one, two teenagers on their way to spend Christmas with grandparents they have never met decide to switch places. This was a pretty average teen movie that I almost gave up on. It really wasn't great to start with, the acting was bad and the story was slow, but it did get better. It was very predictable and even more cheesy than the usual Christmas movies. However, it wasn't terrible and I did find it quite sweet in the end.

A Bad Moms Christmas - I watched Bad Moms a few years ago and really enjoyed it so it was nice to finally get around to watching the Christmas sequel. This movie follows the three mothers from the first movie who have to deal with the stress of the Christmas season, but with their own mothers turning up to add to the madness. I really enjoyed this, though not as much as the first, and thought it was a super fun Christmas movie. Although I am not a mother, I thought it was super relatable at showcasing the stress of Christmas, while most other movies like to paint the picture of a perfect, stress free holiday season. The cast is great, the plot is never dull and pretty funny, and there is a nice heartfelt message to it as well.

A Christmas Prince - This was probably the biggest surprise of the Christmas movies I have watched this year. It follows a reporter who is sent to write a story about a Prince and ends up under cover as a tutor in the palace. I enjoyed this way more than I was expecting to. It was pretty predictable but it was also really sweet. I enjoyed the story and ended up quite invested in the relationship. There are another two movies in this series available on Netflix and I can't wait to check them out.

That is everything Christmassy I have watched so far this year, well except all of my usual favourites. I will for sure be watching more in the next couple of days, so they will most likely feature in a future What I've Been Watching post.

Do you have any Christmas movie recommendations for me?

Sophie :)

What I've Been Watching Recently Part 1

I haven't posted an update on the movies and TV shows I've been watching for the longest time, so I thought it was about time I did just that. I found that when my life was pretty crazy I reached for the remote rather than a book, so I have quite a lot to cover and will need to do this in two parts. This isn't in any kind of order because I can't remember all the way back to April!

Friends Seasons 5-7 - As I have said before, I have watched this show so many times but never every episode in order so I have been rewatching it in order slowly over the year. I have always and will always love this show! Season 5 onwards are my favourite seasons so I have really been loving watching them again.

The Last Summer -  This is a Netflix movie that I decided to watch because it has KJ Apa in it, but I now can't remember anything else about it. I know it's a romantic comedy about four friends during the last summer before they go off to college. I liked it okay at the time but it is so forgettable that I forgot I even watched it.

Glee Season 1 - I decided on a whim that I wanted to start rewatching Glee. I watched the first two seasons when it first aired and then gave up on it, so I wanted to give it another go. I am a huge musical theatre fan and am not averse to anything cheesy but Glee was just too much even for me. I forgot how cringey and just plain bad the first season of this show is. Honestly, I struggled to get through it. One of my friends absolutely loves the show and has convinced me it gets better, so I might try and keep going at some point.

Otherhood - This is another Netflix movie and another one I would say is pretty forgettable. It's about three mothers who decide to surprise their adult sons after they forget Mothers' Day. It is meant to be a comedy but I didn't really find it that entertaining at all. In fact, the only thing I really liked about it was Jack Lacy.

After - This was a total surprise. I wasn't going to watch it because I hadn't read the book and was considering doing so first, but in the end I just decided to watch it without reading the book first. I didn't know what to expect but I definitely didn't expect to love it as much as I did. This is, like I said, based on the book After by Anna Todd, and follows a 'good' girl who moves away to college and meets a 'bad' boy and of course she falls for him. It's nothing that hasn't been done before but I just thought it was so adorable and I was completely invested.

Good Sam - This was another Netflix movie that I enjoyed slightly more than the others. It follows a reporter who is made to cover a story about people finding bags of money on their doorstep and she is trying to uncover who is doing it. This was a nice, sweet movie but it was quite predictable and is a storyline I have seen done better before. I would say it's a good feel-good movie but nothing super special.

The Good Place Season 3 - I was loving this and then stopped watching it for ages and I don't know why. I decided to finish off the third season in time for the fourth (which I still haven't started yet) and loved it just as much as the rest. If you don't already know, this is a series basically about the afterlife. It is absolutely hilarious and they have taken the show in so many weird and unexpected places, I can never tell what is coming next. I just think it's amazing and don't want it to have to end.

Someone Great - Yet another Netflix film, yet another disappointment. This is another romantic comedy following a girl who's long term boyfriend breaks up with her and her two best friends try to give her a good night to get her out of her depression that follows the breakup. I was expecting great things given the cast, but it fell flat for me. It was just like any other 'party' romcom and didn't do anything different of special. I didn't really enjoy it at all.

Falling Inn Love - So basically, I've been watching a lot of Netflix films this year. This was a sweet little romantic comedy about a girl who, after losing her job and boyfriend in the same week, wins an inn in New Zealand, which turns out to be needing a lot more work than first appeared. Obviously there is very nice to look at local who offers to help her with the work needing done and everyone knows where this is going. It was cute and had some pretty funny moments, but it was very predictable and I got a little bored.

Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past - I have no idea why I decided to watch this but it popped up on Netflix so I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, this was just bad! It is about a 'womanizer' who is haunted by ghosts of former girlfriends during the lead up to his brother's wedding. I didn't find it funny, it was pretty boring and really feels like a waste of an hour and a bit.

Death In Paradise Season 7 - I somehow skipped a season and watched season 8 before 7, so I obviously had to go back and catch up. I love a murder mystery so this is the perfect show for me, plus is has some comedy mixed in to make it such a fun watch. Every episode is so clever, I am always being surprised and can never guess the ending. I will never get bored of this.

That was basically everything I have been watching on Netflix over the past few months. In part 2, I'll chat about the things I've been watching on all other platforms. Netflix seems to have been my go to recently.

Do you have any good Netflix recommendations for me?

Sophie :)
